The Stanley Picker Gallery is the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture's exhibition space that holds a rolling programme of lectures and exhibitions. The gallery was a gift to the University from the Stanley Picker Trust and opened in February 1997.
Formerly the home and studio of sculptor Dora Gordine and her husband, the Hon. Prof. Richard Hare,
Dorich House now hosts a magnificent collection of Dora Gordine's work and Russian Imperial art and furniture.
Paul Stafford, Director of Foundation Studies, obtained permission to convert a former 1950's toilet block in Kingston into an art gallery. Brit Art founders, Gilbert & George, cut the toilet paper ribbon to declare its opening and the resulting media frenzy ensured the gallery's place in history. It now has devotees from across the five continents.
