The Sustainable Design Research Centre (SDRC) is the hub for design for sustainability research in the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture at Kingston University. The Centre has a growing number of experienced researchers with numerous ongoing funded projects. We collaborate with academic colleagues from other faculties within the university creating truly inter-disciplinary research and design solutions.
Our research covers a diverse range of topics within the 'Designing for Sustainability' field including:
Our research activities have been funded by Research Councils, external organisations, government departments and foundations. List
We seek to disseminate our research findings as widely as possible and exploit fully our new knowledge by applying it to areas where it can make a difference. This means knowledge transfer activities as well as traditional research outputs are important to us. This approach has led to collaborations with a growing number of Higher Education Institutions and external organisations. List
The Centre also hosts events and has an active Memorandum of Cooperation with the Faculty of Environmental Design, University of Calgary, Canada.
We have a burgeoning research student community which has been assisted by internal and externally funded scholarships. We welcome all enquiries about our work, and from prospective PhD, MA Research and MA Design for Development students interested in design for sustainability.
