Zoe Childerley

School: School of Art and Architecture
Position: Senior Lecturer, BA(Hons) Photography

Zoe Childerley is a lens-based artist with an MA in Photography and a strong record in community projects. She uses using photography, moving image and drawing, exhibiting nationally and internationally and has undertaken numerous commissions and residencies in across Asia, Europe, America and the UK. Much of her recent photographic and video work has explored the rural experience and relationship to place, how this forms identity and represents belonging told through story. She is interested in landscape, and particularly in combining a desire to experience the 'sublime' with the inexplicable seduction of the abyss. Zoe also brings drawing, audio and moving image into her work and is interested in how the different artforms open up new ways to express ideas and push the boundaries of the intertwining media.
