Course taken and year graduating: Real Estate Management Graduated 2009

Overall impressions of the course: Real Estate Management is a well rounded surveying course; during the first year I enjoyed the opportunity to learn about a wide range of competencies that are relevant to the surveying profession these ranged from building construction to law to valuation.  This varied approach allowed me to establish particular areas that interested me the most.  Towards the end of the course the content was more specific, this gave me a thorough grounding for the general practise side of surveying. 

Interactions with the tutors: e.g. were they supportive, helpful: During university I discovered the importance of having to be self motivated in order to keep on top of deadlines and manage work load.  However my tutors, especially those that were specific to the Real Estate Management route, provided essential guidance and advice on ensuring I performed to my best ability.  I mostly felt this support during my final year because you build up stronger relationships which makes it easier to ask for help and advice.  I always found that my tutors were willing to discuss, and where possible solve any issues that arose during my time at Kingston. 

What has the course done for your career aspirations? By successfully completing this course at Kingston I learned that I was capable to succeed within this career and by establishing this capability it has provided the motivation and confidence to want to perform to the best of my ability and ensure I find a job role that challenges me.  I now aspire to work my way up the career ladder as I know I am up for the challenges this presents. 

What has the course done for you in terms of personal development? The greatest impact this course has had on me is a growth in confidence, through gaining a better understanding of the industry I am able to talk confidently.  This is a great benefit to my career as I am able to talk confidently to colleagues and clients which is vital to succeed, if a client sees that you are confident with your abilities they will be assured that you are right for the job.
